African Art virtual gallery

Within strictly oral civilizations in ancient Africa, the knowledge transmission of a people or a group rested upon oral traditions on the one hand, and the part played by cultual or usual objects on the other.

The purpose of this exhibition, in this respect, is to emphasise the essential part of these objects (cultual, usual, magical, sacred, ethnographical, and so on ...) in knowledge transmission both emotional and historical. In this respect, most objects can be seen as a "written" proof coming from the spirit and doomed to the large realm of spiritual and emotional fields. According to a particular scale of reading of objects and their interpretation, we can have more or less access to different levels of knowledge through a genuine initiatic progress scattered with symbols.
